The Origin of Halloween

2013-06-25 11:53:33
Halloween is a traditional Western festival, which is actually equivalent to China's Ghost Festival. It is held on November 1st every year. It originated from the New Year celebration of the ancient Celtic people. On that day, everyone takes out the best food to commemorate the deceased and ghosts and gods, and prays for good weather and a good harvest in the coming year. Now on Halloween Eve, it is popular for children to make trouble if they are not given candy. On Halloween Eve, children will carry Jack-o'-lanterns and go door to door to ask for candy. If someone does not give candy, they will make trouble. In fact, this originated from ancient times. When people were offering sacrifices to ghosts and gods, they would receive the best food donated by each household. People would offer their sincere blessings to those who donated generously. If someone was stingy and did not give, people would curse, thus forming today's Halloween tradition.
