I decided on this product based on a number of reviews from other buyers. The deciding factor was the promised colling performance and lowered noise.
The cooling pad is quite thick compared to a laptop, but the base area is similar. The handbook that came in the box isn't too complicated, with images in the setup guide it was really easy to make it work. There is the Space Station Software that you have to download separately if you want to customize the fan curves and such, but I found that not to be necessary for simple gaming.
Before, both CPU and GPU temps on my ASUS TUF A17 could rise to about 90C. Its been about a week since I got it and started using the BS1 cooling pad and temperatures never risen above 70C. The pad itself can generate some noise, but since the laptop's fans aren't working as hard I would say the overall noise got a bit quieter.
