this unit works well.
but you do need to know and input the IP address of your router as this unit doesn't have a DHCP to get the settings by its self,
once you have set these up, you can then run a IP scan, by plugging in to your switch or router, and you will get a list of IP addresses being used on your network, But if when running this scan you keep getting different results or it will only let you do it once, it could be that the IP address that you have picked for the tester is already being used by a different device, so you must set the testers IP address with one that is not being used,
once you have done this you can then Ping a address on your network then you will get the time the Ping has taken from the device on the network in m/sec,
you can also Ping a external IP address outside your network, like
Google, or The BBC Website and you should get a good reply from these sites,
it says on the box, it will give you the Internet speed, it doesn't,
the unit can read the router/ switch
speed like 10M 100M 1000M half/full duplex,
the only thing I don't like is once you have done a cable test the results stay on screen until you run another test, so if you unplug the cable the results are still on screen so you can't do a wiggle test like you can with cheaper testers,
but I am very Happy with this tester and it is very nice to use,
as long as you know how to find out your router IP address, you can take a guess at this as a lot use
192.168.1.1, but it could be completely different,
you can find the address using a pc in network settings, once you have set this up the tester will save the settings,
